As before but a smaller card (was running out of materials).

let it snow

I ended up walking to work this morning, just a few pics. Was offered a lift and told to meet on the main road, got my wellies on and walked up the hill with all the kids on way back from school as it was closed! Didin't want to stand still and wait in the cold, so agreed to start walking and they would catch up - never did walked whole way which took me an hour and a half and wasn't even made a coffee when I got in! How rude! lol.

The Village where I work looks beatiful.

thanks

J asked me to make a thank you card for the garage he took his car to, as he had it for a month and didn't charge us to find the problem. I used the company name on the card and I thought they could put it on their new pin board as in the process of moving premises!

asked to make..

My mother-in-law asked my to make a wedding card for Vince & Hilda, so I made two so she has a choice.

One had Bo Bunny Patterned paper, with Doodlebug embossed dots paper in white, flowers and a heart and said bride & groom at the bottom.

The next one I made was on a white card square base, I used a flowers and hearts embossed paper in white from Doodlebug again and cut a smaller square. I used Making Memories lace ribbon and made a few layers to the bottom half of the card. I stitched a paper block of words like live, love and laugh above the ribbon. Made a heart out of a daisy embossed white paper and layered white flowers from Imaginisce to the right, added a button in the same colour as the lace ribbon and then a white ribbon bow above the flower.

As she arrived a little early this morning while my husband was at work, (yes I was in bed asleep) and I'd only just finished late last night, again I didn't get photo's - Most upset!

next few cards

After making my brother's card, I needed to make a card for my Dad's 50th and another for my baby brother who's going to be 20! I found it hard to do one masculine card, now got another two to do and they have to be different! AHHH!

I managed to make one for my Dad, but forgot to take a photo! Will have to take one when I'm round there next.

brother's b'day

It's my brother's 25th tomorrow and I'm struggling to make a masculine card with the materials I have. I've been out and bought some chipboard lettering that suits Sean, I can go a bit OTT with Sean as he decorates the inside of my birthday cards every year and puts alot of effort in, lots of speach bubbles and doodles. So did little Al this year a great picture of a ten pound note, saying at least you don't look like this and sorry I couldn't afford a real one!

Searched online for ages for ideas and found a layout of a card that I could use, still with limited stamps etc. Didn't have any chipboard tags that the layout had used so I cut squares of card instead. This is how it turned out;

And the inside;

I used the same rub-ons on the back as the speech bubble on the front; handmade by your big sis.

Supplies: Cardstock; Core'dinations:Patterned Paper; K&Company; Making Memories; Basic Grey: Stamp; Hero Arts: Ink; Brilliance Dew Drop: Ric Rac; Doodlebug Design: Chipboard letters; American Crafts: Rub ons: Letraset; Doodlebug Designs: Scissors; Craft supply.

set of cards

Whilst seaching for ideas online of how to lay things out, I found one using some tags from making memories which I had and so sat down and attempted to make a similar card;

There was 3 of each tag so decided to make some more cards. I've made a few others very similar to these. My Mother-in-law had a look through and has taken the card above to give to a friend and has asked me to make a wedding card for her to give next month.

kids cards

My Dad will be hand delivering the two children's cards today and will be over shortly. So this is what I came up with in a very short amount of time;

This is Brandon's card. My Dad arrived just as I was finishing, so while he waited I made this one for Scarlett;

Was a bit of a rush, but hopefully they liked them.

2nd fabulous card

Ok I'm stuck with the kiddie cards so I've made another fabulous card;

Exactly the same materials as last time but used a different set of rub ons and cut out flowers from the patterned paper instead of a butterfly. I'll try again in the morning with the kids cards!

searching

After looking through the Cards magazine serveral hundred times and looking online for products in the magazine, alot of the companies featured are available to buy in the U.S but not here, and the postage is too expensive from America. As I am getting more familiar with the suppliers I am finding more of the products. As well as searching for materials, I've been trying to find ideas online as I haven't got any stamps or many embellishments so finding it hard to get started on any cards.

I've just ordered a paper pack and a set of stamps and ink, and am looking forward to them arriving so I can get started. One of our friends has just had a baby and want to make a card quite quickly to send her. I've also got alot of family birthdays coming up and would like to make cards for these as well.

I'm also interested in making mini albums and scrap layouts. I have made one, we recently had a family day out at a fun day organised by my husbands work, everything was free so great for kids. My sister in-law took some photo's of me racing her daugher on one of the inflatables (she had no-one to play with lol), so made this into a layout, titled 'the race'.

I haven't managed to sit down since and do anymore, but have the next couple of weeks off so am planning to very soon.

starting off

I decided I was going to start making cards recently as when I was little I always loved making things. All my presents were paint by numbers or things to make. I did art at school and wished I'd carried on. I loved all types art and design from textiles to woodwork and always had to go that extra mile to make something a bit different from the rest of the class.

I got lost in Hobbycraft for a few hours and ended up buying a Cards Magazine. I've spent hours flicking through this little magazine and have bought the next couple of volumes. Anyway with limited supplies and tools I have made my first card:

I made this for my friend Louisa who I haven't seen for ages and she loved it!
